Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa Luxury Accommodation
The Fairlawns is a very unique, exclusive and up-market sanctuary for today’s traveller, be that business or leisure. This well-kept secret is the perfect balance between tranquility and proximity to the thriving business centers of Sandton. Elegant enough to host European royalty, relaxed enough for one visitor to comment “a home away from home, only better”, this establishment is truly a world-class venue.
Originally owned by the Openheimer family, the property was purchased in 1986 and remained the private residence of the current owners, John and Anna Thacker, until the establishment of Fairlawns as a Boutique Hotel in 1998. A forerunner in creating spacious bathrooms, individually themed suites and even the name Boutique, which at the time was not the popular nomenclature it is today, Fairlawns has been at the forefront of a different offering in hospitality.
If you ever happen to need quality stay this is a place to be, form when they pick you up form the train station to when to arrive, the food is always good and I would also try it when I get back home. My husband and I loves this place and cant wait to take our kids when they are a bit older too. the stuff is so kind and professional big ups to all of them!!!

We stayed for one night earlier this year. Food was excellent. Service and staff were also great and I had the best massage ever at the spa. Highly recommended and one of JHB's best on offer. Room was very special and felt like we were staying in an old castle.
I am terribly overdue in writing this much deserved review. I stayed at Fairlawns for one night on the first leg of our Southern African honeymoon. The grounds are impeccable, the rooms very well and uniquely decorated, and the staff could not have been more welcoming and inviting. Just to give you a sense of the hospitality...due to a bizarre passport issue, my husband was delayed by a day in arriving in Africa and I had to start the first 24 hours of our trip by myself. When the staff at Fairlawns heard what had happened, they took the liberty of arranging a facial and massage at the spa for me and had a bottle of complementary wine waiting in the room for me upon my return. At dinner, one of the hotel managers offered to keep me company if I wanted it. I felt very well taken care of and would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a beautiful and glamorous place to stay outside of Johannesburg. I did not make sure of the pool as it was winter when I was there, but it looks like a nice area to relax as well if the weather is appropriate.
Oasis of calm and tranquillity in Sandton just outside Johannesburg. Stayed for week on business trip. Fantastic hotel. Great in every way. Had Chinese themed room with antique furniture (bit to "red" for me if I had to be picky). Fantastically comfortable bed so had perfect nights sleep every night. Sumptuous breakfast made even better by the attention to detail and spot on service delivered by Jabulani. Ate dinner in the restaurant only on one occasion and lived up to expectation. Small quite cosy bar is pleasant for a nightcap. Overall superb with great service. Mietek771 16-Nov-14
Always a pleasure to stay at the Fairlawns. By some distance my favorite hotel in Joburg.
It was exceptional. The whole experience was better than expected. Primarily, the staff were first class. Everyone had a smile on their face, the service was faultless. The room was palatial and the food and wine so good, that I did not even think about going out! Thank you again for a memorable experience.
