Originally owned by the Openheimer family, the property was purchased in 1986 and remained the private residence of the current owners, John and Anna Thacker, until the establishment of Fairlawns as a Boutique Hotel in 1998. A forerunner in creating spacious bathrooms, individually themed suites and even the name Boutique, which at the time was not the popular nomenclature it is today, Fairlawns has been at the forefront of a different offering in hospitality.

Although we were all a bit tired from the long travel, we all agreed that your invitation to dinner was so kind. Most important, the warmth felt by all of us from your gesture is and will be one of the highlights. The property is magnificent, staff efficient and service/food out of this world. The property has that real old school estate feel with the most magnificent spa I have ever visited. The property is conveniently located with easy access to the Gautrain (airport/Sandton) right in the heart of everything you would need access to. Fairlawns do everything the right way I highly recommend it for someone looking for that oasis feel in the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life. 5* plus - I lOVE this property!

We used the conferencing and banqueting facilities. Without a doubt they are top notch from the decor down to the equipment provided. The food was beautifully presented and quite a gastronomical experience. The staff are incredibly attentive, right down to carry your bags and engaging in pleasantries. The GM stepped in and escorted me to my car and carried my bags. To add to this experience the surrounding gardens and pool area is an open invitation into paradise. Peaceful, tranquil and a beautiful meander through nature.
